No delivery-drone approvals without our say
Amazon is preparing to seek approval for Prime Air delivery drones in Australia. Once routes and launch hubs are approved, the people living underneath have little say.
We, the undersigned, call on our councils, the NSW Government and the federal government to approve no commercial delivery-drone operation, launch hub or launch site over or beside residential areas unless:
- affected residents have been fully and publicly consulted;
- an independent noise assessment has been published, measured against local residential noise standards;
- the local council has given its consent.
An ACT government-commissioned test measured a delivery drone at 69 dB at 15 metres, against a 45 dB daytime residential limit.
Genuine emergency and medical drones, under their own rules, are excluded.
